The tour starts at our premises, Drac Actiu, located in the fluvial park area just at the foot of the ancient medieval castle. Only the walls remain now and can be seen illuminated at night.
We begin on a tarmac track which allows us to visit the Oriatori de Sant Miquel and then we climb until we find a turning to the left marked as a GR which takes us up to Montblanc.
Arriving at Montbalnc we can take some time to visit the small medieval city and let ourselves be transported to another moment in history. Using the map of Montblanc, we can find the most emblematic monuments such as the city walls, the hospital of Santa Magdalena, the church of Sant Francesc, the church of Santa Maria, the church of Sant Miquel and especially the Sant Jordi city gate where according to the legend, Sant Jordi (Saint George) killed the dragon.
The offices of D.O. Conca de Barberà are located in Montblanc and that's why we advise you to also visit one of their wine cellars. We suggest the Celler de Mas Foraster which you can easily get to by Burricleta and can be easily found on the well marked Sant Josep path. This is an important landmark for the inhabitants of Montblanc.
The way back to Espluga also starts at the city walls and goes back along a small part of the tour that we did to get to Montblanc. However, instead of going into the forest, the way back goes along a well marked GR path through the traditional arable farmland of our area.
