DAY 1. OLOT-LES D'HOSTOLES PLANS (25KMS)
This route starts from Girona, where we will have arrived the same day or the day before. We will go first to the Burricleta center of Girona for the explanation and delivery of the burricletas. From there, we will go to Olot to catch the bus or the private taxi that you previously contracted with us.
The path of the carrilet has a marked downhill descent from Olot (440 m) to Girona (70 m), with an intermediate level in the Coll d'en Bas, located 600 m. For this reason, the route proposed is a descent from Olot to Girona, an itinerary that will allow you to enjoy more peacefully almost 60 km of route through the green landscapes of these regions.
The cycling route starts at the Olot station, which keeps its passenger building in perfect condition. Along the Fluvià River and the Font de Sant Roc Park, the road leaves Olot through an artificial tunnel under the hermitage of Sant Roc.
As soon as we leave, we will arrive at the old Apeadero de Sant Privat, which still has its modest train platform. From here, the volcanic landscapes will be great. In Les Preses (Km. 4), the road becomes one more street in the town, maintaining its identity.
Near the exit of the town, the lonely station, now converted into an Environmental Information Center, is a mandatory stop to get to know, in more detail, the natural environment.
We will continue towards Sant Esteve d'en Bas. Here we are gaining height little by little until we arrive, at Km. 11, at Coll d'en Bas.
A strong descent allows the approach to the Apeadero of Sant Miquel de Pineda. The Romanesque hermitage of Sant Miguel stands next to the platform. Downhill, the slopes increase and, after crossing the river Bruguent, the road sticks to the road to access Sant Feliu de Pallerols. The carrilet route continues towards Les Planes d'Hostoles. In this section one passes at the foot of the thousand-year-old Castillo d'Hostoles, a castlle.
